A fence makes routing straight stock simple and safe: the workpiece runs along the fence instead of being steered by hand near the cutter. Sliding fence jaws and a hold-down keep the piece against the table and the fence through the whole pass.
Depth fine adjustment sets the cut exactly, so the profile depth lands right without test cuts on scrap. Two flip stops give plunge routing a movable start and finish point, so the groove begins and ends at the same place on every part.
The fence hangs on the back of the machine for storage, so it does not take up separate space and does not go missing between jobs.
