NEVER cut these: Safety first!


Certain materials release highly toxic gases when lasered. It's not worth it. Don't even consider the following unless you want to destroy your machine and your lungs:


  • PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride): Releases chlorine gas. It is corrosive and will destroy the machine's optics, metal parts and electronics – not to mention you.
  • ABS plastic: When melted, it releases cyanide gas. Yes, you read that right. Cyanide.
  • Carbon fiber: The dust is very fine and harmful if inhaled, and can cause short circuits in the machine's electronics.
  • Coated materials (unknown): If you don't know what the coating contains, don't cut it. It could contain anything from vinyl to heavy metals.



Choosing the Right Laser Cutter: Power, Size, and Key Features
