Festool launches cordless system extractors

Festool launches cordless system extractors

The battery together with Bluetooth makes cord-free working possible: just connect the quick-fit antistatic hose to the tool and get started.

A cordless extractor makes life easier for anyone who does the work. Even where there is no power on site yet, cordless machines get the job done exactly as corded ones do. If the machine has to be moved a lot, the cable always catches on a threshold or a corner. Cables also seem to tangle themselves — it is baffling how cables lying quietly on the floor are in a thousand knots a moment later.

Thanks to two 18 V batteries, the turbine motors in the CTC cordless extractors run at 36 V and just as effectively as the traditional corded versions. The CTC SYS and MIDI are released in both L and M dust classes. The CTC MINI will come in an L dust class version.

All the extractors have Bluetooth for the extractor's autostart function; all you need alongside is a Bluetooth battery or the CT-F I remote.

The CTC SYS is a genuinely handy little extractor — you can carry it on your back as a backpack extractor, or clip it to another Systainer. Despite the small size, its suction is almost the same as its larger sisters'. No wet filter is available for it, so it is for dry extraction only. The SYS uses 2 × 4.0 Ah batteries, giving a runtime of 14–25 minutes depending on the power used. In practice that is enough to trim about 20 doors with a plunge saw, or to vacuum a 120 m² flat. The dust bag capacity is 3.5 l.

The CTLC MIDI and MINI are easily carried but have the capabilities of the large extractors. They are designed for someone who moves around a lot with the extractor and needs more capacity than the SYS versions. The machines take 4.0, 5.2 or 8.0 Ah batteries, with runtimes in the same order of 12–22 min, 16–30 min and 24–45 min. At best, then, one charge will trim 41 doors or cut 152 lengths of parquet. Both dry and wet extraction are possible with the MIDI and MINI. Dust capacity with a bag is 7.5 l in the MINI and 12.5 l in the MIDI.

Frequently asked questions

What voltage do the cordless extractors run at?

36 V, obtained from two 18 V batteries. Performance matches the traditional corded versions.

Which model suits what?

The CTC SYS is the smallest: a backpack extractor or clipped to a Systainer, for dry extraction only. The CTLC MINI and MIDI are portable but with greater capacity, and they also do wet extraction.

How long does a battery last?

SYS: 14–25 min (2 × 4.0 Ah). MINI and MIDI: 12–22 min (4.0 Ah), 16–30 min (5.2 Ah) and 24–45 min (8.0 Ah).

What does the runtime mean in practice?

With the SYS, trimming about 20 doors with a plunge saw, or vacuuming a 120 m² flat. With the MIDI, at best 41 doors or 152 lengths of parquet on one charge.

What does Autostart require?

A Bluetooth battery or the CT-F I remote. Bluetooth itself is in every extractor.

Which dust classes are available?

The SYS and MIDI in both L and M, the MINI in L.
