Light rises from the slot into the edge of the acrylic sheet. Clear acrylic carries it along and the engraved area scatters it out, so the motif glows while the background stays dark. That is the whole principle.
Always sell the base together with the engraved sheet. Sold separately, the customer buys only the sheet and the product stays half-finished.
