A collet is a consumable

The collet grips the cutter shank around its full circumference, and that is where concentricity comes from. A worn or damaged collet lets the cutter run out, which shows as ripples in the surface and is audible in the cut. Never tighten a collet without a cutter in it — that deforms it permanently.

One motor needs one collet per shank size you use. The common ones are 6, 8 and 12 mm, plus 1/4" and 1/2" for imperial shanks.

Two collet families — check your motor model

Suhner router motors use two different collet systems, and they are not interchangeable:

UAL 23RF and UAK 30 RF SPZ12 — article code starts with SU-064083
UAD 25RF, UAD 30RF and UAK 30 RF — article code starts with SU-078933

The model names are close to one another — UAK 30 RF and UAK 30 RF SPZ12 differ only in the suffix — so check the motor's rating plate before ordering. The SPZ12 system takes collets up to 12.7 mm, which is precisely why there are two variants.
